The South West Energy Cluster has been developed to ensure that the South West benefits from the opportunities of the energy sector. It is designed to offer those companies who either currently, or aspire to, service the sector with tangible support through a recognised self help cluster to develop the technologies and understanding needed to be successful. With the future build of two nuclear power stations in the South West and the development of wind, wave and solar energy, South West companies need to ensure they capitalise on their ability to service the sector.
WEAF is passionate about the energy sector and its synergy with the advanced manufacturing sector and it sees this cluster as the one of the main drivers for sustainable growth, with an aim of further developing the supply base within the South West. In addition, the cluster will work closely with EEEGR East of England Energy Group) and the NIA (Nuclear Industry Association) to ensure we are up to date on the latest policies and best practice within the sector. The cluster is open to such companies as civil engineering, steel fabrication, mechanical, electrical, instrumentation, and sub contract engineering and aims to provide a convenient means of exchanging information, experience and best practice between members.
The Cluster will focus on the key themes that are affecting the members and those driven by the much wider global issues.
By members, working together it will create a stronger identity for the energy sector supply chain in the South West and improve the profile and awareness locally, nationally and internationally.
