In the context of Government’s ongoing target for the UK to capture 10% of the global space market by 2030, delegates at this conference will consider key opportunities and challenges ahead for the UK space industry.
The seminar is timed to facilitate discussion between policymakers and stakeholders as the UK Space Agency considers responses to its consultation on a new strategy for how the National Space Policy principles of growth, safety and security and collaboration can be put into practice, and to ensure that the strategic importance of the industry is recognised.
Delegates will also assess the implications of the ESA Council of Ministers for the funding of UK projects for the next four years. Further planned sessions will discuss infrastructure as the government considers the location for the UK’s first national spaceport, as well as future priorities for trade, investment and sector skills following the EU-referendum result.
Speakers and other delegates at this conference are expected to be a senior and informed group numbering around 120, including Members of both Houses of Parliament, senior officials from BIES, DIT and the UK Space Agency and other relevant Departments, as well as industry representatives from the space and scientific community and their advisors, industry leaders, digital and infrastructure organisations, trade associations, consultants, academics, end-users, education providers and financial backers, investors and economists, and reporters from the national and trade press.
