Innovative Supply Chains
With the increasing demand of globalisation, it is clear that companies need to collaborate to ensure the stability of the south west's supply base. This project has been designed to assist those companies who support the industry to recognise this need and to develop the innovation that will drive them forward.
In addition, increasing R&D Investment and the resulting narrowing of their strategic focus onto certain technologies or processes, many aerospace organisations are now looking to greater collaboration with suppliers to both share risk and achieve the complex integrated solutions required by customers.
Greater collaboration has also been driven by the need to control costs within the supply chain while simultaneously protecting the economic viability of participating companies.
WEAF has secured funding to help facilitate a regional Innovative Supply Chains framework programme.

Aerospace Training South West
Since its inception in late 2006 the ATSW project has continued to develop a new skills demand picture for the aerospace sector through industry collaboration and cooperation. The initial drive for the project was a shortage of skills in the industry exacerbated by the confused skills landscape (provision funding, support and direction) linked to the impact of changing technologies, supply chains and demographics in the workforce.
ATSW is working with providers to promote industrially centred skills delivery models. These include: the academic assessment of workplace skills in a framework of HE awards; the development of collaborative skills networks and centres of the Excellence; linkages to strategic technology initiatives under development in the region.
The growing demand for bite-size skills delivery and assessment in industry requires a change in the way providers and awarding bodies approach the workforce development market. ATSW, in conjunction with other providers, is now moving towards more flexible and innovative delivery answers in response to the much better understood industry requirements.
