What are iNets?

The Aerospace and Advanced Engineering iNet (Networking for Innovation), is one of five iNets in the South West and part of the government funded “Solutions for Business” product portfolio.

The AAE iNet offers free business support to those companies that wish to grow through developing innovation and technology, and provides access to a large network of other organisations and businesses, both across the region and beyond. The project is designed and managed by a set of partners who have a huge amount of knowledge across the Aerospace and Advanced Engineering sectors and who are determined to help people to develop their business, by providing them with a structured and bespoke support service.

The AAE iNet is focusing on five key challenges, which it believes the sector needs to address if it is to remain competitive in the new global economy.

  1. Globalisation, the need for improved productivity and competitiveness through developing technology and innovation.
  2. The Diversification of technology based products and their retention within the South West's knowledge base
  3. Knowledge exchange between SME's, Higher Education, large and small companies, including participation in Knowledge Transfer Networks.
  4. The development of Innovation in process, design and materials.
  5. Scanning and addressing the need of the demand side and its future needs.

The AAE iNet will enable 200 businesses in the region to realise new opportunities and future growth by the four-step process by focusing on supporting them to exploit the opportunities arising from the intervention programme.
