The academic achievements of 53 members of staff from GKN Aerospace operations around the country were recognised at the company’s ‘Recognition of Learning’ ceremony and dinner at Bristol’s Marriott Royal Hotel late last year.  The event was hosted by the company’s director of human resources, Trevor Hames, with the awards presented by Andrew Harvey, senior vice president, human resources – GKN Aerospace.

At this annual event GKN Aerospace invites family and friends to join employees as they celebrate achieving national qualifications as part of their professional training and development at the company. During the year, employees from all sections of the workforce achieved business qualifications including National Vocational Qualifications (NVQs), City and Guilds certificates and a variety of professional qualifications that will enhance their future career opportunities.

At the ceremony the company also recognised the achievements of the latest graduates of the GKN Aerospace apprenticeship scheme.  This included the presentation of the GKN Aerospace Apprentice of the Year award which is given to the apprentice whose achievements have been particularly impressive.  For achievement in 2013, this important award was won by third-year apprentice Adam Fracz. Adam joined the apprenticeship scheme at 31 to build a career in the aerospace industry. He currently works in wing assembly and during last year also won the Bristol Apprentice of the Year Award, sponsored by the Bristol Post

“At GKN Aerospace we aim to give every individual the opportunity to develop to their full potential and we support them throughout their development process.” said Trevor Hames. “It is fantastic to see the results of the commitment and determination of so many people here tonight – and it is especially encouraging to meet people as they return, having built on their learning and gained further qualifications.”

“Everyone recognised here tonight has dedicated many months and, in some cases, years, of hard work and commitment to gaining their qualification.” continued Trevor. “They should all be extremely proud of their achievements.”
