Senior Aerospace Estimator

Reporting to the Engineering Manager at our Verwood factory, the successful Engineer will work as part of a small team in a fast-paced environment liaising closely with Customers, our production Department and sub-contract suppliers on all aspects, from the supply of raw materials, machining, assembly and surface treatments of Aerospace components.

We are looking for an experienced individual who understands the requirements to compile a robust quotation to our valued Customer base.

The successful candidate will understand:

  • detailed manufacturing drawings and produce machining manufacturing methods in-conjunction with customer specifications for turning, milling, grinding and the treatments of components.
  • Costing processes and quotation compilation.
  • Aerospace materials and subcontract treatment processes.
  • Microsoft office tools

At our manufacturing facility we produce custom foam inserts for various vendors which include Aerospace, Military, Automotive, Marketing and Engineering.
This is an exciting time to join a rapidly growing business in the position of CNC Programmer.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Operating, Setting, and Programming various machines in our CNC department
  • Converting CAD for waterjet and Laser engraver
  • Optimise programming (CADCAM) for production runs
  • Working along side other departments to help implement or drive improvements.
  • Check each manufactured product is machined to the correct specification
  • Carry out daily checks on machinery before use
  • Follow our scheduling system, highlighting any issues/delays to your Team Leader
  • Fill in all relevant paperwork included in our Job Pack
  • Produce products in line with our ISO procedure
  • Update our live schedule on completion of each Job

 

THE PERSON

Our business is looking for an enthusiastic individual who is a great team player, with a can-do approach and good communication skills. Has the ability to problem solve and always aiming to keep production on track. They must also be comfortable reading technical drawings and have a Full UK driving licence.
Training will be given on all machinery and CADCAM software, but basic knowledge is essential.

EXPERIENCE
The successful candidate will be working on a variety of machinery including 3 axis CNC routers, water-Jet cutter, laser engraver and a 5 Axis CNC router which will be arriving in 2023. The CADCAM package we use is AlphaCAM and a basic knowledge of this package or similar CAD software is desirable.

SCHEDULE

  • Working hours are 39 per week Monday-Friday

SALARY

  • £14 – £17 per hour depending on skills and qualifications

JOB TYPE

  • Full time permanent position

ABILITY TO COMMUTE/RELOCATE

  • Ferndown Industrial Estate: reliably commute or plan to relocate before starting work (required)
