Members of the Dorset Cluster gathered at the impressive Battle Lab on the morning of 5th November 2025, for a series of inspiring and informative presentations and informal networking.
The event began with an industry update from WEAF CEO Colin Turner, followed by Shelly Collin-Trevett from Business Growth Dorset, who shared valuable information about the programmes and initiatives available to support local and regional businesses.
Tony Welch from Innovate UK then outlined the organisation’s support for businesses in the industry, providing us with a real-world case study that demonstrated how Innovate UK has helped companies within the supply chain. *
Next, Claire Pearce of Real Growth and Josh Payne of Portland Port introduced the Dorset Clean Energy Super Cluster, an initiative set to re-energise the local economy and support long-term employment. Claire discussed how Dorset can contribute to the Defence Industrial Strategy— even though the South West has not been strongly featured — while Josh outlined Portland’s ambitious plans for offshore wind power, hydrogen production and storage.
To round off the morning, Carl Partridge from Todds Technology delivered an inspirational presentation on the company’s recent growth under new management. His talk gave a fascinating overview into the challenges and achievements of expanding a business — some challenges that were recognised by many attendees.
As ever, our attendees benefited from plenty of valuable networking time, exploring and sharing ideas and best practice.
The Battle Lab proved to be an excellent and much-appreciated venue for this important WEAF gathering.
