Business West is urging engineers across the West of England to make a review of resource efficiency.

Delivered by Business West, Improving Your Resource Efficiency (IYRE) is a FREE service, helping eligible businesses make vital efficiency savings through a comprehensive resource review.

Business West’s environmental advisers work directly with businesses, offering 12 hours of in-depth, on-site support. The advisers help companies to identify the money-saving environmental improvements necessary for sustainable growth. A tailored delivery plan will prioritise actions, covering heating, air conditioning, lighting, insulation, water use and waste disposal.

Advisers can also help businesses work towards environmental quality standards, including ISO 14001. In an increasingly competitive marketplace, it is essential that companies operate as efficiently as possible, streamlining processes and reducing waste. Having the ISO 14001 accreditation can help companies appear more attractive to potential customers, enhance brand reputation and improve customer loyalty.

Environmental legislation is constantly changing and it can be difficult to keep up to date with the latest developments and requirements.  IYRE advisers can offer impartial insight to assist businesses and also help carry out energy audits to review how savings can be made.

Heating engineers, Gregor Heating and Renewable Energy took advantage of the service in 2012. Proprietor Steve Gregor said: “I would certainly recommend IYRE to other businesses. It’s important that more people are aware of the scope of advice and the funding support that’s available.”

Delivered by Business West, IYRE is funded by the European Regional Development Fund. Only small – medium sized businesses are eligible for support. The IYRE service is available until December 2013.
