MACH 2014 Exclusive: New GapGun SPC3d7 software – 50% faster, simpler, more reliable than ever!

Published on: 11th March 2014

Third Dimension, creator of the leading GapGun range of profile measurement systems, launches the latest version of its cutting edge GapGun software, SPC3d Version 7, for both PC and onboard processing, this April.

SPC3d Version 7 software will premier at MACH 2014, the UK’s foremost exhibition for manufacturing technology, which runs between 7-11 April at the NEC, Birmingham. Boasting an ergonomic new interface and a host of new measurement capability features, SPC3d7 is the most powerful and flexible version of Third Dimension's leading software to date.

This latest release offers a wide range of improvements including enhanced capabilities such as the ability to measure up to 10 different dimensions simultaneously (where previously, only up to 3 were possible), with no loss of performance, along with an improvement in speed of up to 50%.

The all new interface of the software now includes easy to review measurement features, meaning that operators on the shop floor are able to immediately see how measurement performance appears against tolerance, reducing training time and ensuring that quality problems can be identified much more quickly.  This is combined with a highly flexible data input and output interface that allows integrators and administrators to access data quickly and easily in a huge variety of industry standard formats.

Algorithms have been further improved meaning that GapGun's world leading measurement capability is dramatically improved.  What's more, SPC3d7 introduces the ability to seamlessly roam or connect to a PC for download automatically with no user intervention, for additional flexibility.

GapGun Robot+ systems also benefit from the new software in addition to Third Dimension's handheld range of products. All systems have introduced new live measurement mode, which allows measurements to be seen in real time as data is collected.  This brings new functionality, reduces robot integration time and provides incredibly useful immediate data feedback.

"SPC3d has always been designed to help our customers gain the most they can from their GapGun systems, but this latest version surpasses anything we have released previously.  Not only is it easy to use, but it also allows more measurement capability, has greater functionality and operates faster than ever before" commented Chief Business Development Officer, John Kane.

In addition to being installed on systems shipped from April, SPC3d7 will also be available to users of the GapGun+ range as a software upgrade.
