The 2022 WEAF Annual Dinner

Network – Engage – Thrive

A simple message that, after three years of not being able to have face to face contact, was executed with a bang!

The attendees of last week’s WEAF Annual Dinner took full advantage of networking with fellow aerospace professionals. The networking and meeting of minds was amazing and prolific. The networking really didn’t stop all night!

A massive thank you goes out to our sponsors SKF and GKN.

WEAF members, SKF Aerospace are based at Clevedon just south of Bristol. SKF is key supplier of advanced bearing systems to the Aerospace sector and the Clevedon site is a major innovation and production hub that is continually developing its products and manufacturing processes. In the aerospace sector, the bearings are widely used in helicopters, and in the industrial market in a huge range of applications including mass transit systems, high performance cars, military vehicles, and marine equipment.

WEAF members, GKN Aerospace have major innovation and production sites in the Southwest. The innovation being carried out at GKN Aerospace’s Global Technology Centre at Filton in Bristol is developing technologies that will drive the next generation of sustainable aircraft. As a global company they are serving the world’s leading aircraft and aero-engine manufacturers with three business lines: civil airframe, defence airframe and engine systems.

Commenting on their support, WEAF CEO, Colin Turner said:

“SKF’s and GKN’s presence in the Southwest is vital to the SW aerospace cluster. It is excellent that they are able to support this prestigious networking event.”

Don’t forget, if you register for next year’s annual dinner now, you’ll get 10% off!!

Charity Auction – Parkinson’s UK

This year’s chosen charity to support is Parkinson’s UK. And WOW! We can’t thank you enough for your generosity.

We are pleased to announce we raised a massive £775 for Parkinson’s UK!

By funding the right research into the most promising treatments, they get closer to a cure every day. Until then, they’re here for everyone affected by Parkinson’s.

Richard Browning – A flight experience like no other

I think we can all agree that Richard Browning was fantastic. Enlightening, and inspiring, it really does show what you can achieve when you think “what’s the worst that can happen?”

And, to raise even more funds towards Parkinson’s UK research and treatment, Richard has kindly offered to auction off a fantastic half day flying experience. Feel the mind blowing and visceral experience as five turbojet engines roar to full thrust in the 1050 horsepower Gravity Jet Suit!

Whatever your background, join us at our Flight Facility at the World-renowned Goodwood Estate, located just 90 minutes outside London. In a safe, controlled and progressive manner become part of an elite group in the world who have truly experienced what it means to fly.

For you to enjoy this once in a lifetime experience, we will be auctioning this fantastic session at the WEAF Expo and Conference, 8-9 March.

We really do hope you made lots of new connections and lots of business cards were swapped.
