Third Dimension reports 45% growth

Published on: 19th June 2014

Third Dimension, a Bristol-based manufacturer of optical metrology solutions for the manufacturing sector, has reported record year on year growth (2013 vs 2012), with sales up 45%. This growth has supported the recruitment of five additional staff, including a senior operations manager and three customer support/applications engineers, to add to the existing workforce.

The company has three pillars to account for this success:

An innovative R&D base, to ensure a steady pipeline of new products to reach new and existing markets; (GapGun Pro launch)
Operations/manufacture – the company now outsources most of its production to largely local suppliers in order to focus on core competencies;
Global customer access/support – Third Dimension is able to provide a local service through its network of distributors and partners, who receive expert training and backup from the UK.

The next year will see the company consolidating its recent success by investing in infrastructure. It is also introducing systems to ensure it maintains its scalability in the face of competing pressures from various markets.

The continued growth of the company is testament to the innovative and flexible solutions based around its industry leading GapGun range.  This offers customers the opportunity to solve complex problems that would otherwise be extremely slow, inaccurate or even impossible to measure.

Peter Marchbank, Third Dimension’s CEO, said: “This has been a terrific year for the company. We have surpassed our growth expectations and the company needs to catch its breath and consolidate our position within the market. We are now considering how best to exploit our capabilities and resources, so that we continue to be a flexible, dependable, quality producer operating at the right tempo.”

Third Dimension exports 80% of its products, to all developed and emerging manufacturing economies around the world. It attributes its success to its ability to offer local technical support. The company is aiming to become integral to its customers business, becoming not just a data recorder but an information provider and interpreter.
