Empowering Women in the Workplace 9th December 2025 – Roundup

Published on: 11th December 2025

The December 2025 Empowering Women in the Workplace meeting brought participants together for the final engaging and reflective session of the year which took place at University of the West of England (UWE).

The WEAF team would like to thank to Professor Sue Durbin, who shared her research into gender inequalities within the Aerospace and Advanced Engineering sector, and STEM generally. Her talk prompted thoughtful debate and encouraged attendees to discuss the general theme.

The meetings have been the creation of a safe and supportive environment, and this session continued to represent that strength. Participants used the meeting to openly explore, not only gender inequalities but also a wide range of workplace challenges they have encountered throughout their careers. This open discussion helped shape plans for future subjects which are expected to focus on professional development, confidence-building, male allyship in workplace practices, wellbeing, and navigating difficult or sensitive situations at work.

Towards the end of the session, attendees were invited to make personal pledges—commitments to goals they hope to achieve within the coming year. These pledges will be revisited when the group meets again.

The next gathering has been provisionally scheduled for 3rd March 2026.
